Painting has been my constant since the early 2000s, when I picked up my brushes again as the chaos of raising children began to ease. I haven’t put them down since. It’s my medicine: the place where I slow down, breathe, and make something purely for the joy of it.
For fifteen years, I kept a thriving studio practice, creating and selling large abstract mixed media paintings. Today, with a different rhythm of time and space, I’ve returned to the traditional methods I learned in school. I paint in oil across the genre spectrum, from still lifes to landscapes to the quiet moments of everyday life, in small, intimate works made in the margins of a busy week.
Alongside my studio work, I’ve always had a creative career. I earned my BFA in commercial arts, a path I’m grateful for because it shaped my eye, my discipline, and my love of design, and launched a long career I’m proud of. Though I once dreamed of majoring in painting, the two worlds have fed each other ever since.
